MEET JANET

A Fresh Look at our community

GREETINGS!

My name is Janet Buccella and I am running for a seat on the Township Committee in Waretown.  I believe it’s time for the collective wisdom of our community to work together to assure that our unique blend of small town values and environmental consciousness is protected as we grow as a township. This year you have a chance to elect someone who views our township with a fresh set of eyes and who will work diligently on your behalf to make this happen!

I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself.

As a single parent, I faced many challenges and concerns such as: what happens if I lose my job; can I pay my rent; how will I feed my children; will I be able to afford to send them to college?.  Five years ago I was downsized by the company I worked for.  It was a devastating experience. This event put me in an even more precarious situation regarding my family’s financial future. I had bills to pay and a child still at home. I knew I had to make some decisions in a timely manner and I did it by addressing the problems at hand with optimism, problem solving skills and support from friends and family.  I used my skills to start a small retail business while also maintaining my focus on growing my small consulting business.

I believe in the power of connectivity. From a young age, I understood that we are all connected on a very basic level.  I searched for ways to become a positive influence in the world and discovered yoga and the value of service.  Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways for me to be of service, whether it’s working in a food pantry, being an EMT or teaching yoga to veterans. While I have done many things, one of my greatest passions is introducing yoga to people with special needs. We are all connected in so many ways and we can and do help each other when times get rough.

It’s been five years since I lost that job and during that time I have found myself becoming more and more involved in neighborhood efforts. From organizing the Barnegat Beach Civic Association (BBCA) Easter Egg Hunt to writing a letter to State Senator Connors regarding speed limit controls on our streets, I am ready, willing, and able to make a difference here in Waretown.  It’s this idea about the power of connectivity and the opportunity to bring people and ideas together that mobilized me to run for a seat on the Township Committee. I believe, working together, we can keep our community strong and resilient while maintaining and protecting its inherent charm and beauty.

I sincerely hope you will vote for me as we take a FRESH LOOK at this wonderful town we call home.
